This Privacy Policy applies to stmaryscleaning.ca and the SMC mobile app (where used to access our services). If you enable push notifications in the app, we may store a device notification token to deliver service-related alerts.
Data controller: St. Marys Cleaning is responsible for the personal information we collect and process through our website and services.
A) When you request a cleaning
When you submit a request on our "Request a Cleaning" page, we collect the information you enter, which may include:
- Contact: first name, last name, email, phone.
- Address: street address, city, postal code.
- Service details: plan type (full space / specific tasks / commercial), preferred time window.
- Home details (full space): property type, floors, occupancy, bedrooms, bathrooms, frequency, cleaning type.
- Add-ons (full space): selected add-on services and optional counts (e.g., windows).
- Tasks (specific tasks): selected tasks and quantities (e.g., windows, kitchen, bathrooms, garage).
- Commercial details (commercial plan): business type, size, floors, frequency, selected areas/add-ons and quantities.
- Optional details: pets, parking/access notes, additional message/notes.
B) When you contact us
When you use our contact form, we may collect your name, email, topic, and message.
C) When you create an account
If you register an account, we collect account details such as your name and email. Your password is handled by WordPress and stored using secure hashing (we do not store your password in plain text). You may also provide optional details like phone and address.
D) When you update your account profile
If you use the "Account Profile" page, you can store/update your default contact information, default address, home details, cleaning preferences and preferred add-ons to help pre-fill future requests.
E) Technical and security information
For security and spam prevention, we may process technical data such as IP address and basic request metadata (for example, to detect duplicate submissions or spam patterns).
F) Cookies
WordPress may use essential cookies for login/session and basic site functionality. We may also use anti-spam or security-related cookies (for example, reCAPTCHA). You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect login/session features.
2) How we use your information
- To receive, review, and respond to your cleaning request or message.
- To contact you and confirm service details, scheduling, scope, and pricing.
- To create and manage a request record in our system.
- To pre-fill your future requests if you have an account.
- To prevent spam, fraud, and abuse (including reCAPTCHA verification).
- To maintain and secure our website and service operations.
3) How information is stored
Information submitted through our forms may be stored in our WordPress database and used to manage service requests. Cleaning requests may be saved as internal records (for example, an order/request entry with related details).
Our website is hosted by GoDaddy, a hosting provider with servers located in the United States. As a result, personal information we collect may be stored on and processed by servers located outside of Canada. By using our website and services, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and stored in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, including disclosure to government authorities under applicable U.S. law.
Limited technical logs may exist for troubleshooting and security (for example, mail delivery logs or error logs).
4) Email communications
When you submit a cleaning request or contact form:
- We send a notification email to info@stmaryscleaning.ca.
- We may send a confirmation email to the email address you provided.
5) Google reCAPTCHA
We use Google reCAPTCHA to reduce spam and abuse on our forms. reCAPTCHA may collect information about your device and interactions to determine whether you are a human. This processing is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
7) Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for service operations, customer support, record-keeping, and legal/accounting requirements.
Invoices and accounting records are retained for a minimum of six (6) years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency under the Income Tax Act (Canada).
You may request deletion of your account and personal details at any time (see Section 9 below). Certain records may be retained after deletion where required by law.
8) Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information, including access controls and standard WordPress security practices. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9) Your rights and choices
You may request to access or correct your personal information, subject to legal and operational requirements.
Account deletion (self‑service): If you are signed in, you can permanently delete your SMC account from Account details → Start account deletion. This removes personal details from our system. We may keep certain records if required by law (for example, invoices for tax purposes). This action cannot be undone.

Our services are not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
